Leptis Magna

Leptis started out as a Punic settlement around 500 BC. It was then a prominent city of the Carthaginian Empire and later the home town for Roman Emperor Septimius Severus. Today the Leptis Magna site along with the museum are some of the best preserved Roman cities anywhere in the world. This is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
