The photo collections below are taken from around the Mediterranean in 2010 prior to the Arab Spring. They are part of a larger 50,000 image collection of street, portrait, journal and architectural photography. As part of an overseas working engagement I booked extensive travel to explore and shoot photography. Although photography is a hobby I found that this process helped me better understand the culture and provide more insightful service.
The communities around the Mediterranean go back to the beginning of recorded history so they have had many inhabitants and many cultural influences. The land of Libya, for instance, was once home to the Berbers, Phoenicians, Romans, Greeks, Persians, Arabs, and Turks. Today it is a mix of ancient, Muslim and western cultures. The geography and cultural experience is both complexed and beautiful.
This is solely my work. I took a photography class in college and snapped photos while traveling but I didn't make an effort to capture professional imagery until working overseas until 2010. You will notice that my eye looks for order and beauty. I believe it is the result of my Architectural training. Though it makes for beautiful photos it is, admittedly, a polished version of reality. I am unintentionally marketing as I take these photos.
